How bad is the avie danger at Tuckermans Ravine?
Check out
www.avalanche.org Mt Washington has its own avalanche forecast.
Or come vist with NASTC for one of the Avalanche courses. I took Avalanache 1 last year and it gives you lots of good information to make your own decision. Forecasters are trying to move away from saying exactly what the risks are becasue risks are always present. You need to gather the information and determine for yourself how much risk you are willing to take.
In paticular I have found it useful to read stories of accidents on avalanche. org and learn from others mistakes.

Do you know about the Sierra Avalanche Center? I am an avid backcountry skier and I am on the board for SAC. Take a look at their website at www.sierraavalanchecenter.org. It is a non-profit organization that I help raise money for the forecasters and to help educate backcountry users. While I was living in Mt. Shasta, I founded the Friends of the Mt. Shasta Avalanche Center, which is also a non-profit, so when I moved to Truckee, I wanted to continue to help the non-profit for the avalanche center.
