Has anybody here ever skied the Utah Interconnect? I'm considering doing this, probably next year. They have a 6-area trip that looks cool: Deer Valley, Park City, Solitude, Brighton, Alta, Snowbird. According to their website, it's about 16,000 vertical feet and 26 to 29 miles of skiing, neither one of which sounds too extreme.
I'd also want to make sure I'm ready before going so as not to embarass myself. :o AT/AC clinics, anyone?

I did the Snowbird Alta Brighton Solitude tour in March 05 on a bluebird day and it was great. Don't worry about your fitness or AT gear as the trip is designed to get people into the backcountry without a lot of stress. If you really want to go on a tour (it will cost a little more unless you have a group) talk to Exum Mountain Guides. http://www.exum.ofutah.com/ When are you going to be in Utah? I am thinking of skiing Superior with Exum in early March (8-15). Interested.
The only downside to the Interconnect was I was in a group of 10 and we could have done some laps on the good powder we found if we had more time. Big groups take awhile getting safely through the backcountry.

I have never done it. however I have heard that it is well worth it. I would recomend getting "Backcountry Skiing Utah by Tyson Bradley. 250 pages of Utah beta!

My brother lives in Salt Lake and just laughs at the idea of paying to get a fraction of the snow that he gets for free and taking the line from resort to resort because you spend so little quality time on the best runs. Of course, he lives there and averages about a beer a lap so you've got to consider the source.

The amount may be less (quality ski time), but nonetheless I think the Interconnect qualifies as "a Cool Thing to do". I feel another thread coming on... :D
