There have been 30 avalanche fatalities in the USA this season already and we are only half way through the season. Be careful in the backcountry. The most recent fatalities were a roof avalanche in North Dakota and a snowmobile avalanche in Colorado. There is a NASTC Avalanche 1 class this weekend. If you haven't taken an avalanche class, I would highly recommend one if you are going backcountry. If you want to know what the avalanche conditions are in the Tahoe area, look at www.sierraavalanchecenter.org. If you are in the Mt Shasta area, look at www.shastaavalanche.org. And if you are going anywhere in the USA, take a look at www.avalanche.org for the avalanche centers.
