Tahoe, CA NEW Skiing the Backcountry at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort


Ever want to venture out under those ropes and enjoy pristine wilderness and the quiet sounds of only your skis as they float through light, untouched powder? With your guide safely leading, you can enjoy excellent backcountry skiing from Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort along the Sawtooth Ridge. This is a unique chance to ski some very unskied areas outside of Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort adjacent the Tahoe National Forest. You'll get an introduction to the skills and competencies needed to go outside the ski area boundaries safely. The course will include a comprehensive overview of avalanche awareness, proper equipment and backcountry skiing techniques...all led by the top guides and instructors. MT. SHASTA, CA - CLIMB AND SKI A 14,162' PEAK

Experience the thrill of climbing to the top of Mt. Shasta (14,162 feet) and skiing down this famous California volcano, led by top guides from NASTC & Shasta Mountain Guides. The adventure is a physical challenge as well as a great experience skiing winter powder at the top and spring corn from the middle down to the cars. Levels 8-9.

A one-day adventure in our Tahoe backyard for new or experienced backcountry skiers or boarders with intermediate to advanced skills. If you have never been in the backcountry, you must experience the beauty and peacefulness of the mountains. Course covers avalanche basics, beacon use, and safe touring skills.

THE LOST TRAIL LODGE:
On day 1, you will practice using avalanche beacons, specialized skins and touring adapters before heading off the backside of Mt. Lincoln on the Pacific Crest Trail towards Anderson Peak. From there you will descend through steeps or gentle glades (depending on your ability) and through the lush glades on the east slope. In the heart of Cold Stream Canyon you will find luxury at its finest in The Lost Trail Lodge with its gourmet kitchen, private rooms, parlor stoves, private whirlpool baths, and dramatic architecture. After a good sleep, we will ski right out our doors and enjoy some pristine snow before heading 4.5 miles back to Truckee via the Lodge’s snow cat. Levels 7-9
