My New Secret - The Lost Trail Lodge
By Jenny Fellows

Chris and I just returned from a great ski adventure and relaxing time at Lost Trail Lodge here in Truckee. We started at Sugar Bowl, took the Lincoln lift up and then skied out of bounds out on to the Pacific Crest Trail. Some of our best turns all day were actually right there on the southern flank of Mt Lincoln. We put our skins on to continue along the PCT until we reached the Benson Hut. We then turned left and skied down the awesome northwest side of Anderson Peak, traversing and down skiing the rolling hills beneath the Anderson Cirque that lead down to Coldstream Canyon. Lost Trail Lodge is in Coldstream, at (give coordinates).

Built by Dave Robertson from 1998-2003,in a word this lodge is divine! Built by hand by the owner himself it sleeps 20 in 16 beds divided among 4 cabins flanking the main part of the lodge. That center is the deluxe industrial quality kitchen and living room which offers a 20' rock fireplace. All the wood is hand-hewn, the beams are exposed, and the decor is beautiful. It is adorned with what I would call "deluxe log cabin" furniture, sumptuous linens, boutique lamps, and collectors items from Dave's adventures. But here is the clincher (if you have not already decided to join us next season): jacuzzi tubs in most of the rooms! Relax in warm bubbly waters after a gourmet meal and full day of backcountry skiing!

Need I say more? Lost Trail Lodge is NASTC's next adventure destination. Its perfect for you. From this base we will ski some of Tahoe's best lines both via lift access and climbing skins, and then enjoy the creature comforts of the beautiful lodge.
