"Portillo, Chile is my personal fav. I look forward to it every year. I have
only missed two summers in the last 8 due to having babies. But speaking of kids, it is a SUPERB and easy place to bring the family. The flight is long but at least its overnite and the time change is only 3 hours. So unlike going to Europe, you don't spend 2 days recuperating. And once there, the logistics are the best. The all-inclusive hotel sits on Lake Inca, and the skiing is on both sides of the valley above the lake. Its all above tree-line and since its a maritime mountain range, it gets tons of snow and is never too cold. You ski right out your door to beginner, intermediate, or 35 degree expert slopes. The gorgeaus Andes rise to 15,000 feet above you. There are only 450 beds, so its never crowded. The staff and guests at the hotel arebeyond friendly and helpful. Since everyone comes for a week, they becomelike family or friends by the end of your stay. The amenities for apres-ski are unsurpassed, if you like a quaint, cozy hotel experience. This is not the Whistler village. This is one dining room, one bar, one gym, one pool, one spa, one game room, one movie theatre, one store, one salon, one daycare, one disco...one ofeverything you could need, and the fun of runninginto people at each. You can ski some serious powder vert. in a day, eat yummy food, and dance the nite away at Portillo!"

"Grand Targhee-Jackson Hole! Easy to get to both and super friendly folks at each. Grand Targhee has awesome powder skiing, a superb CAT operation, a limited number of beds (and skiers on the hill), a logistics-ease matched by no one else except maybe Portillo everything is a stone's throw away), and great atmosphere. Jackson...well its Jackson Hole. For steeps and deeps there is nothing like it. NASTC leads the trend in taking intermediate and expert skiers on out-of-bounds adventures, so Jackson is an obvious perfect playground for our students and trainers/guides."
