Pete Fasoldt
NASTC Lead Rock Climbing Guide

Pete is a certified AMGA Rock Guide who is thrilled to call Donner Summer his “home crag”. Originally hailing from Maine, Pete has worked as a ski patroller, as the owner of a rock guiding outfit in Acadia National Park, and as a first mate on sail boats, traveling thousands of offshore miles, including a recent attempt at transiting the famed Northwest Passage. Pete has completed several ascents of El Capitan, including a one-day solo. He has established first ascents in several countries across the globe and has a particular love of hard to reach alpine granite objectives. In 2004 and 2006 Pete became certified as a Wilderness First Responder and an Outdoor Emergency Care technician, respectively. Pete has guided people of all different climbing abilities, all over the country, and brings patience, humor, and a deep love of the sport to each course he leads.

Jarad Stiles
NASTC Rock Climbing Guide

Jarad was born and raised in Truckee, California and started rock climbing on the granite domes of Donner Summit.  He is certified by the American Mountain Guides Association as a single pitch rock climbing instructor and obtained his wilderness first responder certification from NOLS in March 2009. During the summer months, he is consumed with climbing; from the pristine 14,000’+ alpine climbs on the east face of Mount Whitney, to imposing big walls such as The Nose of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.  In the winter season he spends much of his time traveling through the warmer climates of the world. During 2011, he climbed the vast limestone towers in Thailand, and in 2012 trekked through the high Himalayan passes of Nepal.  With a deep seated love for the mountains and a passion for sharing the benefits of wilderness therapy, Jarad’s patience and compatibility make him the perfect choice for a great guide.

Colby Wangler

If you’re lucky you’ll get to see him dance up the rock too! He’s a talented guy, skilled guide, and all around fun person. Colby hails from Sierra County and Truckee and spends as much time as possible on the granite honing his talents.

Emma Beardsley
NASTC Junior Guide

Emma is helping out with our Kids Camps this summer and sharing her skills and climbing knowledge – so if you are a kid, you’re super lucky you get to climb with awesome Emma! A high school senior and native Truckee-ite, Emma is a serious rock climber who has already logged more days in Yosemite, Tuoloumne, and on Donner Summit than many die hard adult climbers! She’s a great climber, and fantastic person. She’s sure to be a certified rock guide in the near future, and if she chooses to travel the world a bit, any guide service will be darn lucky to work with her!
