| Northstar-at-Tahoe Course Update March 17-19, 2008 |
||
| The NASTC group was truly spoiled at the Northstar-at-Tahoe course with fantastic weather, good snow, good people and great hospitality. On the morning of orientation, we looked around the room and discovered that half the group was made up of returning NASTC alums. It was so much fun to catch up with all the familiar faces and forge new friendships with those we have never met. Not only did everyone indulge in the fantastic weather and snow but in the wonderful amenities offered to us by Northstar-at-Tahoe. Three grueling days of coaching by Mike Hafer and Chris Fellows and activities took place under the brilliant Sierra Nevada Sun. After a productive first morning on the snow, which was some of the first turns some group members had made in a while; the NASTC group was invited to have lunch at the exclusive Shaffer’s Camp restaurant at mid-mountain. The afternoon progressed with more drills and a tech talk by Jim Shaffner, owner of the Start Haus in Truckee and renowned boot fitter. The group then enjoyed a casual dinner at Rubicon Pizza in the village. The next morning everyone shook off any residual sleepiness with NASTC’s unique stretching routine, and then it was off for another day full of drills and lots of skiing; which included a groan -inducing bump session for some of the groups. Through the video review sessions we witnessed that over the three days everyone made some big improvements in their skiing. We rounded off the afternoon with another tech talk followed by a dinner full of laughs at Mikuni Sushi. Thank you to Scott Brady and his lovely family for hosting the group at his home for après ski!
