POWDER POWDER POWDER -- it has been an epic week in Tahoe!! We've had storm sets rolling in almost every day with a total accumulation this week of 8-12 feet. Today we had gorgeous blue skies and snow like you wouldn't believe. The forcast calls for more storms tomorrow with sets continuing to roll in through New Years -- why can't this course just keep going?

This kind of powder has been an awesome adventure and we've had great NASTC training. The fundamentals apply to the knee deep just like the hardpack, but we've had terrific coaching on technique and tactics specific to powder. Chris says "Shin-tongue, float, turn -- right down the fall line" and float you do in this stuff, like riding a cloud to heaven.

As always there have been some great tech talks -- we had a long session with Jim Schaffner on boot balancing. You could see the total immersion course at work -- a lot of the trainers were close to dead-on for the issues they saw on the hill when Jim measured their boot balance after skiing.

And yes, great food and great people, a lot of reunions from Portillo and even a few from 2002 Whistler -- Dr. Jim and Stephen are ready for this season! Many of the students in the instructor's training course have been NASTC students for years and it's great to have them join our trainers in the PSIA.

Raffle night saw Mikey H doing a bang-up job as MC -- the prizes were flowing, the jokes were rolling and he even had his sidekick Malcolm doing some modeling of the fabulous winning gear. It was clear he really had it down when he announced "THIS IS THE BEST NASTC GROUP EVER!"
