Let the countdown to ski season 2014-2015 begin!

The air is getting crisper, the leaves are changing color, the angle of the sun is lower…ski season is almost here! Many professional skiers, including the PSIA National Alpine Team will be making their first turns in just over a couple of weeks. The first World Cup race is not too far away. Even though Lindsey Vonn is back on snow she will not be starting in the Soelden race, Oct 24. Her comeback is planned for the Lake Louise races in early December.
Another bit of news to fuel the excitement for the upcoming season is; Homewood Mountain Resort will be offering guided Snowcat skiing this season! Led by NASTC trained guides, groups will be able to ski fun backcountry terrain off the 8,740ft summit of Ellis Peak. NASTC will be running private Snowcat skiing groups in addition to introductory guiding courses for instructors. Homewood, known for its outstanding views of Lake Tahoe has access to some prime backcountry terrain. If you have the opportunity to get out! and try it this season – do it!

Big Sky, MT – January 9-13

“Go Big or go home!” It has been a while, but we are finally making our return to Big Sky and couldn’t be more excited! This is a fantastic mountain for skiers that want to ski off-piste and improve their big mountain skiing skills. Tons of terrain to explore and a 4,300ft vertical drop that will challenge your dryland preparation. With an authentic western vibe, you will feel like you are skiing in the wild west. Wide open runs, big tree glades, steep faces and couloirs, and exceptional snow quality, Big Sky has it all.
The week will focus on skill blends and tactics for soft snow and technical terrain. You will come away from the course feeling more confident and comfortable in the off-piste.

Aspen-Snowmass February 27-March 3, 2015

Don’t let Aspen’s glamorous reputation fool you. This is as much a mountain for serious skiers as it is a destination for professional vacationers. It is well suited to the serious skier as it has an incredible variety of terrain with a significant difficulty factor.
Aspen Snowmass has four mountains at your disposal, each one has a different terrain mix and feel. Adrenaline pumping lines off the Cirque at Snowmass, wide open lines off Highlands Bowl, steep pitches and tree-skiing at Aspen Moutain and fun playful lines at Buttermilk are all on the menu.
Aspen is one of those places that helps you grow as a skier, you can feel the boundaries of your imagination dissolve. Its extreme natural beauty will fuel the flame as you work to improve your all mountain skill blending and tactics.
