South American Skiing Adventures

What an incredible adventure this summer in South America brought us. We celebrated our 20th anniversary in Portillo with a terrific group of people and are still suffering from our Portillo withdrawals.
Despite a very low snow year in the Andes, it was still an undeniably great experience with lots of skiing and training included. 65% of skiers were NASTC alumni and the new faces that joined the fold fit in just perfectly. The coaches were universally thrilled and impressed with the progress and improvement in everyone’s skiing. Quite a few of the NASTC team came home with trophies from the Sol de Portillo race. Lots of Chilean wine was sampled as there was a common affinity for wine among the group. New friends were made along with great memories on and off the slopes. All in all, it was a successful and fantastic trip South.

Rock Climbing Through the Fall Season

It is peak rock climbing season in Tahoe. These next few months are some of the best months for climbing, the temperature drops a little so the days are not so hot and the crowds are gone so you have the climbing routes all to yourself. The scenery becomes stunning as the trees start to change color and the soft fall light makes it an extraordinary experience. NASTC continues to offer rock climbing lessons during the fall months, call or email to make a reservation and include a morning or afternoon of rock climbing into your Tahoe fall weekend getaway plans.

The 2015 Trip Not to Miss: Niseko, Japan, Jan 28-Feb 5, 2015

NASTC is going to the mythical powder paradise of Niseko, Japan this winter season. Word on the slopes is that it snows more in Niseko during the months of January and February than it does anywhere else in the world. This is a unique chance to visit and ski Japan – NASTC style. The terrain is perfect for skiers wanting to improve their powder and off-piste skiing skills and for those wanting to learn how to be more playful in the powder and have the experience of face shot after face shot.
